Grave Tending and Maintenance Services

The Gravetender serves Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky, with a focus on Cave Hill Cemetery, Eastern Cemetery, Evergreen Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, Resthaven Memorial Park, Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, and most other Louisville-area cemeteries. We also serve Henry County, Kentucky, including New Castle and surrounding rural cemeteries.

Clients outside this area are welcome to inquire. A travel fee may apply depending on distance.

Each cemetery has its own regulations regarding outside maintenance providers. We contact each cemetery we work in to understand their rules before we begin. Most cemeteries welcome supplemental care because their staff handles only general grounds maintenance — individual plot care is the family's responsibility. We operate respectfully within each cemetery's guidelines.

Absolutely. One of the most meaningful things we offer is timed visits. We can place flowers and document the gravesite on a loved one's birthday, your wedding anniversary, Memorial Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, or any other date you name. For subscription clients, holiday visits are built into higher-tier plans. For one-time clients, simply let us know the date when you book.

This varies by cemetery, and it is important to know before you order. Cave Hill Cemetery does not permit artificial flowers. If your loved one rests at Cave Hill or another cemetery with similar restrictions, we will use fresh flowers only and advise you accordingly. Please mention the cemetery when you inquire so we can confirm the rules for that location.

After every visit, we send timestamped photographs directly to you by email or text — whichever you prefer. Photos show the gravesite before and after the visit. Subscription clients can also request that photos be shared with additional family members.

We accept credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover), and all transactions are handled securely through our website. Subscription plans can be paid monthly or annually. Annual plans paid upfront receive a small discount. One-time services are invoiced before or at the time of service.

Clients with two gravesites receive 10% off the combined plan; three gravesites receive 15% off. For four or more, contact us for a custom quote.

We use D/2 Biological Solution, the industry-recognized standard for safe headstone cleaning. It is approved by the National Park Service and recommended by monument conservation professionals. It is safe on granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, and bronze, and it will not damage the stone. We never use bleach, acid-based cleaners, or pressure washers on headstones.

A death doula is a trained companion who supports individuals and families through the dying process and the grief that follows — much like a birth doula supports families during new life. As a certified death doula, I approach this work with a deep understanding of loss, memory, and the human need to honor the dead.

Grave tending is not lawn maintenance, it is an act of remembrance and love.
